Real moments, told with care.
Every story is written by a person, about their own life. These guidelines keep the Archive safe for the people who write in it, the people who read it, and the people who appear in our stories without choosing to.

How we look after stories
- Stories that touch on something heavy are read by a person before they go live.
- If a story suggests someone is in danger right now, it stays private and the writer is shown places to get help.
- Names and phone numbers we detect are hidden unless the writer chooses to keep them.
- Location data is removed from photos.
- You must be 18 or older to share a story.
License
When you share a story, you agree to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license (CC BY 4.0). Anyone, including AI developers, may use it with credit to Humanity Archive. Only share what you wrote yourself or have the right to share. Private stories are never shown or exported. You can withdraw a story any time with your private link, and withdrawn stories are left out of every new version of the dataset.
